Legislative Update from Bryan Holloway
Received November 19, 2019
Last week the legislature adjourned and will not return until mid-January. Again, legislators have left us with uncertainty regarding pay for teachers, assistant principals and non-certified employees. There also remain uncertainty for local budgets as well.
There appears to be no real negotiations going on between the governor and legislature, but we have heard some talk that there may be some action at the first of the year with hopes of bringing this budget impasse to a conclusion.
NCATA will stay on top of the situation and continue to let both the legislature and the governor know that educators desperately want this budget standoff concluded.
Again, our legislative priorities are contingent upon the successful passage of the budget.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. We will be in touch if there is any breaking news.
